Code/400

Developers have been able to use TurnOver side by side with PC editors, such as Code/400, for years. As more TurnOver users began using Code/400, we saw ways to vastly improve efficiency by thoroughly integrating the two products. SoftLanding and IBM worked together to create a sophisticated, easy-to-use TurnOver and Code/400 interface, embedding new code in both products. The interface makes the line between the two products virtually transparent for seamless transitions between TurnOver and Code/400 functions.

By generating a menu option for TurnOver on Code/400 panels, the interface:

  1. Facilitates free movement back to TurnOver functions from Code/400.
  2. Further automates Code/400 functions by synchronizing Code/400 library lists with your TurnOver application.
  3. Integrates all of the best compilation features from both TurnOver and Code/400.

Simple TurnOver Configuration

The complete configuration within TurnOver can be entered in just six fields on the "Change Session Defaults" panel within the Programmer Worklist Manager.

Customize Developer Tools

Customize the interface to your work style by choosing any one of the Code/400 or iSeries (AS/400) tools for editing, browsing, designing and debugging source. You can pick a different tool for each function, if you wish. In the last two fields you provide the name of the library that contains the Code/400 communications objects, and the name that you gave for your Code/400 server when you issued the StrCODE command.

Simple Setup in Code/400

Setting up the Code/400 side of the interface is even easier. Simply configure Code/400 using the standard IBM installation instructions and turn on the "Extras" macro feature.

Powerful Design

The design of the interface allows you to take advantage of both TurnOver's Worklist and Code/400, without limiting your choices. As a matter of fact, the combination of both interfaces gives you a greater selection of options than you ever had before.

Easy to Alternate

If you have to sign on to PCs where Code/400 is not installed, it's easy to toggle between using the Code/400 interface on one system, and not using the interface on another system.

Automatically Synchronize Library Lists

The library list within your Code/400 server job is automatically changed to match the library list for your TurnOver application. This makes it easy to use the features within Code/400, like the Verify Program option.

"TurnOver" Menu Option in Code/400

The interface automatically creates a "TurnOver" menu option within the Code/400 editor for seamless transition between the two products.

Custom Compile Option

From within Code/400, you can select the TurnOver custom compile option, which integrates all of the best compilation features of Code/400 and TurnOver, such as:

  1. Feedback from the compile, including the error list, is received in Code/400.
  2. The compile will use TurnOver's default create command.
  3. Any overrides to the default create command are stored/recalled automatically by TurnOver.
  4. TurnOver's ability to execute pre- and post- compile commands, including data base file overrides, is preserved.

Standard Compiles Also Available

If you don't want to use the compile feature from the "TurnOver" menu option with Code/400, you can still use either the standard Code/400 compile option, or the standard Programmer Worklist Manager compile option within TurnOver.

System Requirements

To use the interface you need to be running TurnOver release 5.1 or higher and Code/400 for Windows V3R2M1 with SP005 or higher. You must be using the Programmer Worklist Manager feature of TurnOver in order to take advantage of the interface.

Free with TurnOver License

You receive the Code/400 interface as a standard component of TurnOver.
